Accommodation: Aberdares

Fishing Lodge:

Fishing Lodge consists of two cottages with two ensuite rooms each and a cosy central living room with a fire place. The location is stunning on a high plateau at 3000m surrounded by moorland and with great views. A stream that is great for fishing passes 100m from the lodge and one can do great walks to the waterfalls accompanied by a ranger. In spite of the high altitude, elephant herds often pass by the lodge.

Rhino Retreat:

The private Rhino Retreat is a 3 bedroom cottage secluded in the hills above the Ark. The Retreat has its own waterhole, which attracts a regular stream of animals, in particular elephants, buffalo and bushbuck. The lodge is managed by Rhino Ark, a fund raising initiative to benefit the local communities around the Aberdares, through fence and forest management, and the creation of wildlife sanctuaries - notably for the rhino as its name suggests.

The Ark:

Located in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, the Ark resembles and is named after Noah's Ark. It is positioned overlooking a flood lit waterhole and salt lick which attract elephants, rhinos, leopards and bushbacks among others. It has three decks with balconies and lounges which are great vantage points for game viewing. From the ground level bunker guests can take excellent pictures very close to the animals. A raised walkway from the main building provides another game viewing opportunity outdoors. Guests are accomodated in 60 ensuite cabins fitted with buzzers to announce the arrival of one of the "Big Five" at the waterhole.

Treetops::

Treetops lies in the path of an ancient elephant migratory route between the Aberdare Mountains and Mt Kenya National Park, and is strategically sited right in front of a watering hole and salt lick. The lodge which became famous as the place where Queen Elisabeth stayed on the night when her father died and she unexpectedly became queen rises straight out of the ground on stilts and has four decks and a rooftop viewing platform. The compact and cosy accomodation is solely dedicated to game viewing and offers very basic twin and triple rooms with communal bathrooms and showers.
