Accommodation in Amboseli & Chyulu Hills

 Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge
Amboseli Serena Lodge is set against the backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, surrounded by miles of rolling grasslands, patrolled by vast herds of elephant, shaded by the lush and feathered-green of an acacia grove.

Each of the 96 rooms has an uninterrupted view over the African plains and is decorated in a traditional Maasai concept with beadwork, gourds, hand-painted murals. A traditional manyatta bent-brushwood effect has been used so as to blend an authentic nomadic aura with 4-star comforts.

 Campi ya Kanzi
Campi ya Kanzi is a luxury tented safari camp situated in Maasai-owned land in the Chyulu Hills close to the border with Tanzania, overlooking Mt Kilimanjaro. The camp surroundings are diverse habitats ranging from grassland to forests and offer a private wildlife and nature experience with the highlight being bush walks in the beautiful Chyulu Hills. Operated as a partnership between Luca and Antonella Belpietro and the local Maasai, it applies many principles of ecotourism - all the electricity comes from solar panels, waste material is recycled, eco-friendly flush toilets and showers are used. Accommodation is offered in six luxury tented cottages set on wooden platforms with thatched roofs and large ensuite bathrooms. The ambience at Campi ya Kanzi is warm, it feels like being a guest at a friend's house, thanks to the personal ambiance created by the hosts and the entire staff.

 Campi ya Nyati
Campi ya Nyati is set in the Chyulu Hills bordering Tsavo West and offers splendid views of the vast wilderess dotted with shrubs and hills as well as of Mt Kilimanjaro in the background. Owned and hosted by Massimo and his wife, the lodge has a charming ambience and is very laid back. Accommodation is offered in 6 tents which are raised on a foundation of volcanic rock from the area. Guests at Campi ya Nyati are spoilt for choice when it comes to activities which include game drives in Tsavo, trekking in the beautiful Chyulu Hills including overnight in bush camps, shorter bush walks in the surrounding hills, bush breakfasts and romantic bush dinners. When the air is clear, you could sit all afternoon in front of your tent or the main lounge and enjoy the views of the snow covered Kilimanjaro which seems to be suspended from the clouds.

 Kibo Safari Camp
Kibo Safari Camp is a luxury tented camp built with natural materials giving it a natural look. All tents are covered by a thatch roof under which is water-proof and have built in showers and toilets. An open terraced restaurant and bar under acacia trees overlooks Mt. Kilimanjaro. Being strategically built in the Amboseli National Park, you can comfortably watch elephants and other animals strolling and grazing close by. The camp is surrounded by an electric fence to keep the large animals out.

 Ol Kanjau
Ol Kanjau, the “Camp of the Elephants”, is set at the end of Africa’s largest hill slope, Mt. Kilimanjaro surrounded by a larger area of true African bush land wilderness just three kilometers east of Amboseli National Park. It is a traditional style tented camp hosted by Mike and Judy Rainy, their daughter Jessica and son-in-law Jeff Worden who are conservationists and ecologists. Combining ecotourism and conservation science in a very special way, they help visitors play a part in securing a long term future for the Amboseli elephants which have perhaps the oldest and most intact social structure of any elephant population in Africa. Accommodation is offered in six spacious and luxurious tents, with large comfortable beds, safari style bathrooms, with bucket showers. Each tent is separated from the others providing privacy and at night the lanterns lighting each tent create a romantic ambience.

 Ol Tukai Lodge
Ol Tukai Lodge is camouflaged in a forest of fever trees and palms in the heart of the Amboseli National Park. It offers majestic views of the snow capped Mt. Kilimanjaro and features outdoor bars, restaurants, patios with firepits, an open air lobby and an Acacia tree shaded swimming pool. From the elephant bar guests can enjoy a wide range of cocktails while watching elephants frolicking or grazing in the wilderness. Accommodation is offered in 80 bright and airy rooms in chalet-style buildings which each have four rooms. The rooms have verandas from which guests can watch the wildlife at the swamps.

 Porini Camp
Porini Camp is located in the Selenkay Conservation Area, a 15,000 acre private game reserve within a vast tract of land owned by the Kisonko clan of the Maasai people and located near the northern boundary of Amboseli National Park. The Conservation Area is an important dispersal area for wildlife moving in and out of Amboseli and holds a wide diversity of species. The camp consists of six spacious tents, sited among shady Acacia trees, in a spot once favoured by big game hunters. The camp is small and exclusive, accommodating a maximum of 12 guests.

It is set up along the lines of the traditional hunting safari bush camp, so there are no permanent structures like bar or restaurant or swimming pool – this is real camping in the bush, but with much more comfortable bathroom arrangements than were available to the hunters of earlier years. The tents are large and comfortably furnished, each with a double and a single bed, solar-powered electric lights, and en suite bathroom with shower, washbasin and flush toilet. Meals are taken under the shade of an Acacia tree and after dinner we can sit around the campfire and listen to the sounds of the African night.

 Tortilis Camp
Tortillis is an eco-friendly camp located on the edge of Amboseli National Park with a magnificent view of the Kilimanjaro. It features a comfortable open palm bar, lounge and dining room under thatch, swimming pool, pool bar, and a tastefully decorated restaurant.
