Mount Kenya, located on the equator, is Kenya’s highest mountain. With magnificent cliffs and glaciers protecting the highest peaks of Nelion (17,020 ft) and Batian (17,057 ft), it makes for a spectacular technical climb. The third highest summit -Point Lenana (16,060 ft) - is also glaciated, but accessible to walkers. The mountain’s beautiful lakes and alpine meadows, as well as exotic, equatorial, high-altitude vegetation; and a variety of wildlife (including sunbirds, hyrax and soaring eagles), make the walk around the peaks one of the most beautiful expeditions in the East African mountains.
