   Transfrontier ParkAccommodation in Transfrontier Park

Approximately 35,000 km2, the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park is a joint initiative between Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The establishment of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park is intended to link the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique, Kruger National Park in South Africa, Gonarezhou National Park, Manjinji Pan Sanctuary and Malipati Safari Area in Zimbabwe, as well as two areas between Kruger and Gonarezhou, namely the Sengwe communal land in Zimbabwe and the Makuleke region in South Africa. This is the first phase of creating a bigger transfrontier conservation area measuring a staggering 100,000 km2 that will enable guests to cross the international borders of the three countries within the boundaries of the park. In addition to game viewing, visitors will have a broad range of new attractions including bird watching, water activities such as cruises on the lake and tiger-fishing.

Part of the Transfrontier Park, the Machampane concession comprises a large wilderness area that borders Kruger Park to the west and extends down to Lake Massangir on the Olifants River. A fence separates Limpopo, which was until fairly recently a hunting concession, and Kruger. Over the last few years relocated wildlife have been released into a sanctuary area here, the fences of which are still visible south of the camp. Near the lake, but within the park, local Shangaan community eke out a subsistence living on the land.
