Volcanoes National Park is part of the Virunga Mountains protected area, which includes National Park in Kongo and Rwanda. The area is home to around 320 highly endangered Mountain Gorillas, a half of the world’s population.
Sitting face to face with a 160kg silverback in the impene-trable rain-forest is a one of a lifetime experience and is certainly one of the highlights of every trip to Africa. A group of Trackers and Ranger will guide you up the slopes of the vulcanoes. Depending on the movements of the gorillas, you will spend three to nine hours gorilla trekking.
