Praslin is one of the most visited and largest islands after Mahé. Only fifteen minutes flight from Mahé, the island of Praslin is populated with an ancient palm forest, now declared a World Heritage Site. This island is somewhat quieter, and less developed than Mahé, but boasts an exotic paradise of dense vegetation and lush coconut groves. The forest is home to six endemic palm species, including the erotic-looking coco de mer, the bearer of the largest nut in the world. Wander past exotic fauna and flora on paths through this pristine forest, keeping an eye out for the rare black parrot that is found nowhere else in the world. It is a popular stop for cruise liners and a vacation destination for honeymooners and beach lovers. Praslin is famous for its soft white sandy beaches, and there are far too many to name, with the exception of Anse Lazio, which has consistently been voted one of the world's best beaches.

They offer safe bathing and excellent snorkelling among the living corals, which are home to an amazing nine hundred species of fish. Praslin is known for being the exclusive home of the rare 'coco de mer' palm, that produces the world's largest nut, and delights ornithologists with glimpses of some of the world's rarest birds, like the black parrot and fruit pigeon. Several large resort hotels have been developed on the island, but this has not interfered with the natural beauty or abundant flora and fauna. There are a few villages sprinkled across the island, housing the permanent population of a few thousand souls, most of whom work in the hotels and resorts or depend on fishing for a livelihood.

Praslin is advatagious over other Islands in the Seychelles, in that it has a Championship Golf course, and the only island outside Mahé with a Casino. It is also an good jumping off point to visit other islands. These beautiful islands are inhabited by thousands of birds and turtles, and their waters possess beautiful coral reefs where snorkelers can see a variety of fishes.
