Grumeti Reserves is located adjacent to the Western Corridor of the Serengeti, bordering the national park, and encompasses 400,000 acres of unrivalled wilderness. The area forms part of the famous migratory route, which is travelled by hundreds of thousands of animals every year. Grumeti features three luxurious lodges, each offering a distinctive and exceptional safari experience.
Every year nearly one and a half million wildebeest joined by thousands of zebra and antelope complete a three hundred mile journey in search of life sustaining grasses. This represents the greatest land movement of animals on the planet. At the beginning of February the wildebeest begin their annual migration toward the Grumeti and the West where they remain until mid-July. They then move into Kenya for the fresh grasses and remain there until October. Finally, completing the circuit, the drying grasses send them back south from whence they came. This great spectacle may be enjoyed from one of the Grumeti Reserve Lodges.
