Chole
Mjini
Chole Mjini is a lodge set in
the baobab trees on the island
of Chole at the Southern tip of
Mafia offering a wild and rugged
Robinson Crusoe kind of experience.
This treehouse lodge is like a
bush camp by the sea where instead
of game-viewing, the days here
are filled with walking, sailing,
diving and exploring the forests
and villages of Mafia, the least
developed of the three main islands
on the coast of Tanzania. The
lodge features a dining area overlooking
the small harbour, an upstairs
bar with sweeping views and a
downstairs lounge area which has
a wide range of games, magazines,
reference books and novels for
the use of the guests.
Accommodation is offered in six
treehouses which each have splendid
views to the North of all of Chole
Bay and the forests beyond, and
one luxurious suite on the ground.
Each treehouse has a shower, with
both hot and cold water, and its
own dry composting toilet, situated
at the base of the tree in it's
own private garden. The "groundhouse"
has an ensuite bathroom with a
sunken, Persian bath and flush
toilet and a large private garden
especially for those who cannot
or do not want to live in a tree.

Kinasi
Lodge
Kinasi is a small private lodge situated in a coconut and cashew plantation facing Chole Bayon Mafia Island. The lodge started as a private home and this feeling is extended to the guests. The natural sorrounding offers tranquility and total privacy.
The 14 cottages are widely spaced, each with a large verandah and ensuite bathroom, giving a relaxing and personal feel. The room designs, furnishings and finishes are electic, combing elements of coastal Tanzania, African, Indian and Arab cultures into historically accurate ""Shirazi"" style. The main lounge is beautifully furnished with antiques and hand-made furniture and there are original works of art by local artists. The friendly staff will create a very personal ambiance and look after guests, providing morning tea and coffee with fresh biscuits and cakes in the rooms, sundowners and cocktails, delicious food and attending to any requests guests may have. Guests can enjoy scuba diving, snorkeling, watersports, dhow and boat excursions as well as walks.
