The
Ngorongoro Crater is one of
the natural wonders of the world;
its six mountain peaks are constantly
in view and sightings of the
big five – lion, elephant,
rhino, buffalo and leopard –
are frequent. The plains and
swamps teem with game and an
enormous variety of birds. The
conservation area is also home
to Masai people and their cattle
which co-exist with the existing
wildlife in a unique ecosystem.

The foothills between the Ngorongoro
Conservation Area and Lake Manyara
are ideal as a break between
game viewing in the national
parks or for a couple of relaxing
days at the start or end of
your holiday. The area offer
beautiful lush green landscapes
dotted with picturesque coffee
and tea plantations. You may
chose to do little more than
resting on the terrasse of your
cottage, enjoying the beautiful
views and reading a book while
sampling the local tea or coffee.
Alternatively, you can do a
tour of the farms abd discover
how tea and coffee are produced,
explore the surroundings with
their miriad of birds on nature
walks and visit the local villages
on foot or by bike. These villages
are far off the main tourist
path and where therefore the
villagers will welcome you into
their homes and let you get
a glimpse at their lives.
