Uganda is home to many different ethnic groups, none of whom form a majority of the population, making the nation a mix of cultures. Many retain their ancient traditions and crafts and the nomadic pastoral tribes are amongst the most colourful in Africa.
Language
Around forty different languages are regularly and currently in use in the country. English is the official language, while the most widely spoken local language is Luganda, spoken predominantly in the urban concentrations of Kampala. Swahili is the second official national language.
