Climate
While Uganda’s climate is generally tropical, it differs between parts of the country and temperatures get well below freezing level in the higher reaches of Mt Elgon and the Rwenzoris.
Most parts of Uganda receive an average of 1000-2000 mm rainfall, but the rainy season and duration may vary according to regions. In general, however, it can be said that long rains occur from April to June while between October and December, shorter rainfalls are expected. During this time it seldom rains all day long and the short, violent showers will follow the mostly sunny sections. In the Lake Victoria basin, the humidity due to the high water evaporation of up to 75-80% is also to be expected here almost year-round with small showers; humidity is significantly lower in the remaining part of the country.
