Day: 1 Arrival in Nairobi

Welcome to Enchanting-Africa! Our tour manager will receive you at the airport in Nairobi and take you to your hotel for check in.

Explore Nairobi, the safari capital of Africa and a city that never seems to sleep. Experience one of the lively and colourful street markets, the fantastic music scene and one of the many excellent restaurants. Alternatively, discover the Karen Blixen museum, giraffe centre where you can feed giraffes or venture into Nairobi National Park, just outside town, with its cliffs and forests and large herds of Zebra, Wildebeest, Buffalo, Giraffe and more.

Accommodation: Ngong House or Palacina

Day: 2 - 5 Lake Natron

Drive into the Rift Valley (ca. 3.5 hours)

Driving into the Great Rift Valley towards Lake Magadi is an unforgettable experience in itself - after a 30 minutes drive from Nairobi, the ground suddenly drops and from the edge of the escarpment you enjoy a spectacular view of the dramatic Rift Valley Landscape. Continuing onwards creates the sensation of driving to the centre of the earth - down, down, down ... while the air temperature gets hotter every minute and you glide through the arid and moonlike landscape of the rift valley escarpment, you come to think that this journey will never end - and you don't want it to end as it gives you an exhilirating sensation of freedom. Beyond Magadi Town which has the atmosphere of a gold rush settlement the journey turns into a real adventure.

Your stay in this part of the Rift Valley will add to the sensation of being at the end of the world – during game drives and bush walks you will hardly ever see anybody else and sunrises over the dry Rift Valley are deeply moving moments, and a sensation of peace and tranquility will eventually let all worries of the world seem far away.

Accommodation: Shompole or Little Shompole

Day: 6 - 8 Meru

Flight to Nairobi and onwards to Meru (ca. 2 hours)

Only few visitors come to Meru which enhances its stunning scenic beauty, watered by many small rivers which are shaded by dense riverine forest and stands of raphia and doum palms. In this remote area Joy and George Adamson reared the lioness Elsa which was set free here and became famous through the movie “Born Free”. When you land on the tiny airstrip in the midst of the African bush you may disturb a cheetah or big-eared bull elephant that charges away in startled surprise - a promise of what lays ahead.

Accommodation: Elsa's Kopje or Offbeat Meru Camp

Day: 9 - 11 Laikipia

Morning Flight Meru – Laikipia (ca. 1 hour)

The Laikipia plateau in central Kenya is one of the last stronghold of romantic East Africa - vast open ranches, shadowed by snow-capped Mount Kenya, dusty plains and verdant grasslands, interspersed with rocky hills, home to diverse communities including the Maasai and Samburu. It is home to more endangered mammals than anywhere else in East Africa, protecting half of Kenya's black rhino. The region also has large herds of elephant and wild dog, leopard, lion, cheetah and other predators hunting the plentiful game. You can explore this remote area on game drives, bush walks, camel rides and fantastic horse riding safaris or simply retreat from the world and enjoy the stunning views from your lodge.

Accommodation: Ol Malo or Sabuk

Day: 12 - 15

Tana Delta

Flight from Laikipia to Tana Delta (ca. 2.5 hours)

Tana Delta is where the African bush meets the Indian Ocean, situated by an outlet of the mighty Tana River in Northern Kenya, on the curve of the beaches and huge dunes of Formosa Bay, more remote than any camp in Kenya and totally unspoilt. Enjoy beachcombing expeditions interspersed with bird watching, boat trips, fishing, water ski… the sea is warm and the surf roles across a gently slopping beach so you can choose the size of wave you wish to tackle - surf in the morning, stalking buffalos in the afternoon.

Accommodation: Tana Delta Camp

Day: 16 Nairobi

Flight from Tana Delta via Lamu to Nairobi (ca. 2.5 hours)

Enjoy a memorable good bye dinner at one of Nairobi's joints with live music before you transfer to International Airport for departure.
