Arrival in Arusha |
| Welcome to Enchanting-Africa!
Our tour manager will receive you
at the airport at the foot of Kilimanjaro
and take you to your hotel for check
in.
Arusha is nestled in the shadow of
Mount Meru with commanding views of
the mighty Kilimanjaro. It is a convenient
base from which most travellers visit
the country’s most renowned
game reserves and offers a number
of rewarding excursions close by such
as Arusha National Park, one of the
least frequently visited northern
Tanzania national parks, making it
a wonderful and rewarding off-the-beaten-track.
Accommodation: Kigongoni Lodge or Onsea

Tarangire |
| Morning transfer
Arusha – Tarangire (ca. 2 hours)
It is the vast number of baobabs
that first capture the eye as you
enter Tarangire National Park. The
gently rolling countryside is dotted
with these majestic trees, which seem
to dwarf the animals that feed beneath
them.
Though not as famous, Tarangire offers
the same attractions as other parks
in the north. Its unique aspect is
the annual animal immigration that
takes place during the dry season.
While in the Serengeti animals migrate
away from the park during the dry
season (June to October), the opposite
happens in Tarangire as animals migrate
into the park during this time. During
this period the park has the largest
concentration of animals in any park
in the northern Tanzania.

Nestling at the base of the Great
Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara
National Park is stunningly beautiful.
As you enter the gate, you pass through
"clouds" of butterflies
in the lush forest, home to troops
of baboons and blue monkeys. Buffalo
and hippo lurch in the adjacent Hippo
Pool. The vegetation merges into flat
topped acacia woodland where, in the
heat of the day, you can see the famous
tree-climbing lions of Lake Manyara
stretched on the branches of these
trees. Two thirds of the park is dominated
by the slightly alkaline lake which
is home to more than 400 species of
birds including flamingos and pelicans.

The conservation area is also home

The Serengeti is the jewel in the
crown of Tanzania's parks and undoubtedly
the best-known wildlife sanctuary
in the world. With more than two million
wildebeest, half a million Thomson's
gazelle, and a quarter of a million
zebra, it has the greatest concentration
of plains game in Africa. The wildebeest
and zebra moreover form the star cast
of a unique spectacular - the annual
migration. Its landscape has been
sculptured by the concerted action
of wind, rain and sun and varies from
open grass plains in the south, savannah
with scattered acacia trees in the
centre, hilly, wooded grassland in
the north, to extensive woodland and
black clay plains to the west, while
small rivers, lakes and swamps are
scattered throughout.
