Meru |
| Morning Flight
Nairobi – Meru (ca. 1 hour)
Only few visitors come to Meru which
enhances its stunning scenic beauty,
watered by many small rivers which
are shaded by dense riverine forest
and stands of raphia and doum palms.
In this remote area Joy and George
Adamson reared the lioness Elsa which
was set free here and became famous
through the movie “Born Free”.
When you land on the tiny airstrip
in the midst of the African bush you
may disturb a cheetah or big-eared
bull elephant that charges away in
startled surprise - a promise of what
lays ahead.
Accommodation: Elsa’s
Kopje or Offbeat Meru Camp

| Day: 5 - 7 |
Masai Mara |
| Morning Flight
Meru – Masai Mara (ca. 5 hours)
The Masai Mara – endless seas
of golden grass dotted with hesitant
shrubs, broken here and there with
the ghostly acacia trees and ringed
by distant hills, the chocolate Mara
river waters with frolicking hippos,
immensely rich animal life including
countless game and large prides of
lions – fulfils the expectations
of any visitor searching the African
landscapes portrayed in movies such
as "Out of Africa". From
July to October, this is the sight
of one of the most spectacular and
dramatic sites on earth - the annual
migration of one million wildebeests
and 200,000 zebras following the seasonal
rains in a quest for the best pastures,
finding along the way the crocodile-crowded
river.
Accommodation: Basecamp Explorer
or Mara Siria Camp

| Day: 8 - 9 |
Amboseli |
| Flight Masai
Mara – Nairobi (ca. 1 hour),
Drive from Nairobi to Amboseli (ca.
3 hours)
Amboseli National Park is located
in southern Kenya and bounded to the
south by Mt. Kilimanjaro. The name
Amboseli is derived from the Maasai
word 'em-posel' for the salty dust
found on the seasonally flooded Amboseli
"lake" when it rains. Amboseli's
swamps, plains, woodlands and bush
country support a diversity of wildlife
ranging from the minute and rare spectacled
elephant shrew to the huge bulk of
the African elephant, the generuk
and the Fringe-eared oryx. The swamps
and lakes are also home to over 400
bird species making the park a paradise
for bird watchers.
Accommodation: Tortilis Camp
or Ol Tukai Lodge |

| Day: 10 - 11 |
Tarangire |
Drive from Amboseli
to the Kenyan-Tanzanian border (ca.
1.5 hours) and onward transfer to
Tarangire (ca. 3 hours)
It is the vast number of baobabs
that first capture the eye as you
enter Tarangire National Park. The
gently rolling countryside is dotted
with these majestic trees, which seem
to dwarf the animals that feed beneath
them.
Though not as famous, Tarangire offers
the same attractions as other parks
in the north. Its unique aspect is
the annual animal immigration that
takes place during the dry season.
While in the Serengeti animals migrate
away from the park during the dry
season (June to October), the opposite
happens in Tarangire as animals migrate
into the park during this time. During
this period the park has the largest
concentration of animals in any park
in the northern Tanzania.
Accommodation: Swala Camp
or Tarangire Treetops |
 |
| |
| Day: 12 - 13 |
Lake Manyara |
| Drive from Tarangire
to Lake Manyara (ca. 1.5 hours)
Nestling at the base of the Great
Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara
National Park is stunningly beautiful.
As you enter the gate, you pass through
"clouds" of butterflies
in the lush forest, home to troops
of baboons and blue monkeys. Buffalo
and hippo lurch in the adjacent Hippo
Pool. The vegetation merges into flat
topped acacia woodland where, in the
heat of the day, you can see the famous
tree-climbing lions of Lake Manyara
stretched on the branches of these
trees. Two thirds of the park is dominated
by the slightly alkaline lake which
is home to more than 400 species of
birds including flamingos and pelicans.
Accommodation: Lake Manyara
Wild Africa Lodge or Kirurumu Tented
Camp |
 |
| |
| Day: 14 |
Arusha |
Drive from Lake
Manyara to Arusha and transfer to
Kilimanjaro International Airport
for departure (ca. 3 hours) |
