There are so many things to think about when planning a honeymoon, but one of the most important is to have a couple of days at the start of your trip to relax after the wedding. This will often mean spending a couple of nights at a lodge that is not specifically a safari destination – there's nothing worse than being dragged out of bed at six o'clock in the morning when you're tired from an overnight flight and weeks of wedding planning. If time allows we would also recommend some time relaxing at the end of the trip as well – it's very easy to add several nights on the beach after almost any safari destination.

Styles of accommodation also vary widely. Most of those which we will offer you are small, catering for up to 20 people at a time. If you wish to have a luxurious honeymoon experience , you could stay at one of the tremendously imaginative and romantic lodges and camps in Eastern Africa's game reserves. Imagine a candlelit dinner in the privacy of your veranda as a full moon lends a soft glow to the ‘cough cough' of a leopard barely 10 feet away or a relaxed afternoon at your private pool with the backdrop of the magnificent Rift Valley. If you prefer something a little livelier, you could live in an elegant and comfortable heritage-hotel or a private villa on the coast, travel back in time and discover the authentic Swahili culture of Lamu or Zanzibar.

If it's absolute peace, privacy and solitude that you are looking for, you could even stay on one of the exclusive island resorts in the Indian ocean or in a private lodge in the middle of nowhere in a remote corner of Kenya, enjoying breathtaking sunrises and sunsets and romantic nights under the myriad of stars . Or imagine sailing on a luxurious traditional dhow between the remote islands of the Lamu and Kiwayu archipelago, leaving behind the rest of the world on shore. Eastern Africa abounds in idyllic beach resorts, where you can combine five-star comforts with sun, sand, palm trees and of course, the company of your loved one.
