An awe-inspiring wildebeest
stampede , a group of lion cups clumsily
trying to climb a tree while their mum is lazily
enjoying the early morning sun, a magical
gorilla encounter , a graceful herd of
impala resting under a group of trees, a close
encounter with an elephant and her baby who can't
see you but visibly get nervous as they smell
you, sweeping views of miles of golden
grass dotted with thorny bushes and ringed by
blue hills .
Eastern Africa is a region of breathtaking
beauty and great contrasts - from palm-fringed
sandy beaches on the Indian Ocean to the
snow-capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro
and Mt Kenya straddling the Equator; from tropical
rain forests to harsh arid deserts in the north;
from vast open plains and savannah to acacia woodlands;
from small farms to rich ranches and estates of
tea, coffee, pineapple, banana, wheat and sisal;
from small muddy rivers teeming with hippo and crocodiles
to Lake Victoria, the source of the Nile river and
the largest lake in Africa, and Lake Tanganika,
the 3rd deepest lake in the world, full of tropical
fish. A distinguishing feature of the region is
the the Great Rift Valley , a massive
fracture line in the earth's surface which runs
from Jordan through Kenya and Tanzania to Mozambique
and contains spectacular soda and fresh water lakes,
interspersed by volcanoes.

A large proportion of
Eastern Africa is reserved for its wildlife
- game reserves are situated in some of the finest
scenery in Africa. The proliferation and diversity
of the animal and bird life is second to none,
and the marine life in the coral gardens off shore
is spectacular.
We will take you to Eastern Africa's most famous
national parks - the Masai Mara, Serengeti,
Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Nakuru, Samburu
and Amboseli – where the game is so used to visitors
that photographic scoops come easy. Beyond these,
we will introduce you to lesser known
but equally spectacular parks and private reserves,
where you will never bump into other travellers
. You can easily get away from the beaten
path, witness unforgettable sunsets on the mighty
Rufiji river in the Selous, see elephants and
antelopes cavorting at the beach in Saadani, have
close encounters with chimpanzees in Mahale and
Gombe Stream or venture into remote Meru, Laikipia,
Katavi or Ruaha, where you'll rarely see another
vehicle.
