Wildlife viewing in the Mara is fantastic all year round, and, from August to October it is the sight of one of the most spectacular wildlife experiences on earth - the annual migration of close to two million wildebeests and zebras following the seasonal rains in a quest for the best pastures. During these months, you can witness the dramatic crossings of thousands of wildebeest and zebra over the crocodile-infested Mara river
. While you will see most animals on game drives, the conservation areas surrounding the Masai Mara also offer the opportunity for beautiful bush walks and visits to a Maasai village and to colourful local markets.

Lake Victoria is the second largest fresh water lake in the world and source of the River Nile. A good opportunity to enjoy a welcome contrast to game viewing. The lake is rich in fish and birdlife, its islands lush and verdant.

The deep blue waters support an abundant ecosystem. Its shores are lined with groves of banana trees and fishing villages where you'll always be greeted with a friendly smile and a wave. The chance to catch the giant Nile perch draws many guests.
Enjoy a boat excursion to a small fishing village on Lake Victoria – a particular exciting experience in the morning when you will be able to visit the bustling market right on the beach.

Accommodation: Speke Bay Lodge

Serengeti
Day 5 - 6
Experience the high concentration of wildlife and the diversity of landscapes in the Serengeti as you make your way through its western corridor along the Grumeti River to the central Serengeti (4-6 hours)

The Serengeti is the jewel in the crown of Tanzania's parks and undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world. With countless predators including lion, cheetah and leopard, more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson's gazelle, and a quarter of a million zebra, it has the greatest concentration of wildlife on our planet.

The wildebeest and zebra moreover form the star cast of a unique spectacular - the annual migration. Between late December and March, you will be able to witness the great migration of more than 1 million wildebeest and zebra during the spectacular calving season.
Between May and July you might be lucky to witness the fascinating spectacle of thousands of Wildebeest and Zebras crossing the crocodile infested Grumeti River together with their new born. While from August to October, they move to the remote Northern Serengeti crossing the Mara River with giant crocodiles.

The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the natural wonders of the world; its six mountain peaks are constantly in view and sightings of the big five – lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard – are frequent. The conservation area is also home to Maasai people and their cattle which co-exist with the existing wildlife in a unique ecosystem.

Lake Manyara to West Kilimanjaro
Day 9 - 10
Enjoy a morning game drive at Lake Manyara before driving towards Africa's highest peak, the iconic Mt Kilimanjaro (3-4 hours)
content-image

The drive to West Kilimanjaro is exciting as you are treated to views of the foothills of the majestic Kilimanjaro and occasionally that of its peaks should the cloud cover permit it. As you approach the concession area you will drive through fertile farmlands and villages, see workers carrying their hoes on their way home from the farms before the vegetation changes into wide open savannah.

West Kilimanjaro is a concession area to the west of Mt Kilimanjaro visited by far fewer travellers than Amboseli National Park on the other side of the border in Kenya. Like Amboseli, West Kilimanjaro offers breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro and the neighbouring Mt Meru. Animals from Amboseli often wander into West Kilimanjaro and on a game drive you can see some of the largest elephants as well as the gerenuk, kudu, oryx, vervet monkeys. As this is not a national park, you also have the opportunity of getting closer to nature on guided bush walks and of experiencing authentic cultural encounters in remote Masai villages.
