Laikipia
Days 1 - 2
Take on a calm scenic drive into the Central Highlands of Laikipia (3 - 4 hours).
content-image

Laikipia in central Kenya is one of the last strongholds of romantic East Africa - vast ranches and private game reserves shadowed by snow-capped Mount Kenya. It is home to more endangered mammals than anywhere else in East Africa, protecting half of Kenya's black rhino.

Laikipia offers diverse scenery from the edge of the Great Rift Valley, to the peaks of Mount Kenya, with dusty plains and verdant grasslands, interspersed with rocky hills, rivers, and waterholes and guests can enjoy more diverse safari activities then anywhere else in Africa including game drives, fantastic bush walks and horse riding safaris.

Accommodation: Sandai Homestay & Cottage or Sangare Lakeside Tented Camp

Aberdares / Lake Naivasha / Lake Nakuru
Day 3 - 4
Discover the stunning Aberdares Ranges on your way to Lake Naivasha in the Rift Valley.

The Aberdares offer striking mountain scenery, a mix of the alps combined with stretches of dense jungle and amazing waterfalls, and an abundance of wildlife including buffalos, elephants, lions, leopard, warthogs as well as black rhinos and the rare bongo antelope. The park provides an opportunity to see these animals at a drinking hole and observe their behaviour at night from the comfort of a lodge. At 3,000 meters above sea level, the bamboo belt gives way to moorland which are reminiscent of the Scottish highlands and ideal for walking, picnics, camping and trout fishing in the rivers.

Drive Aberdares – Lake Naivasha (ca. 3 hours)
Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake, fringed by thick papyrus and surrounded by forests. Naivasha is also a wonderful birding destination and boat trips on the lake are a great way to spend an afternoon or morning. And, in the evening, enjoy stunning sunsets; with the haunting call of a Fish Eagle high over the lake bringing the day to a perfect end.

You can also opt to visit Lake Nakuru, one of the alkaline Rift Valley lakes with its shores populated at times by more than one million flamingos and which has been called "the greatest bird spectacle on earth". Game drives offer you the opportunity to get as close as ten meters to this spectacle. Enjoy the variety of wildlife combined with its striking and varied landscapes.

Accommodation: Elsamere or Olerai

Masai Mara
Day 5 - 7
Take an afternoon flight to the Masai Mara (40 min).

The Masai Mara – endless seas of golden grass dotted with hesitant shrubs, broken here and there with the ghostly acacia trees and ringed by distant hills, the chocolate Mara river waters with frolicking hippos, immensely rich animal life including countless game and large prides of lions – fulfils the expectations of any visitor searching the African landscapes portrayed in movies such as "Out of Africa".

From August to October, this is the sight of one of the most spectacular and dramatic sites on earth - the annual migration of one million wildebeests and 200,000 zebras following the seasonal rains in a quest for the best pastures, finding along the way the crocodile-crowded river.

Accommodation: Mara Siria Camp or Kicheche Bush Camp

Nairobi
Day 8
Flight from Masai Mara to Nairobi (1 hour)
