Days 1 - 2
Experience why Rwanda is also called "the land of 1000 hills" as you drive through its scenic countryside to Volcanoes National Park (2 hours).

Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda is part of the Virunga Mountains protected area, which includes Mgahinga National Park in Uganda and Virunga National Park in Congo. The area is home to around 320 highly endangered Mountain Gorillas, a half of the world's population.

A group of ranger will guide you up the slopes of the volcanoes to one of the gorilla families which will take between one and three hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family. Sitting face to face with a 160kg silverback in the impenetrable rain-forest is a one of a lifetime experience and certainly one of the highlights of every trip to Uganda and Rwanda.

Nairobi is the economic hub and largest city in East Africa. Apart from being a convenient starting point for most safaris in Kenya, Nairobi is also a great place to experience contemporary urban African life. Discover the colourful street markets, take in the sights, sounds and smells as you walk through the bustling down town, enjoy the views from one of the city's high rises, try authentic African cuisine or one of the excellent international restaurants and immerse yourself in Nairobi's nightlife.

You can also visit the excellent National Museum and explore Kenya's historic roots on a visit to Karen Blixen Museum in the leafy suburb of Karen. If your main interests are animals, Nairobi also has a lot to offer - you can feed giraffe in the Giraffe Center and get very close to baby elephants, cheetah and other orphaned animals in the David Sheldrick Center and animal orphanage.
At the doorstep of Nairobi lie the Ngong Hills, which are great for afternoon walks and spectacular sundowners, and Nairobi National Park, the only place in the world where you can see lions and other wildlife in their natural habitat against the backdrop of city skyscrapers.

Accommodation: Fairview Hotel or Palacina

Masai Mara
Day 4 - 6
Take a scenic morning flight to the Masai Mara (1 hour) which gives you a wonderful birds eye perspective of the breathtaking Rift Valley.

The Masai Mara fulfils the dreams of any visitor searching for an amazing safari experience. The iconic African landscapes, endless seas of golden grass dotted with picturesque acacia trees, are home to cheetah, leopard, large prides of lions, elephants, giraffe, hyena, huge Nile crocodiles, frolicking hippos and many other species.

Wildlife viewing in the Mara is fantastic all year round, and, from August to October it is the sight of one of the most spectacular wildlife experiences on earth - the annual migration of close to two million wildebeests and zebras following the seasonal rains in a quest for the best pastures. During these months, you can witness the dramatic crossings of thousands of wildebeest and zebra over the crocodile-infested Mara river.
While you will see most animals on game drives, the conservation areas surrounding the Masai Mara also offer the opportunity for beautiful bush walks and visits to a Maasai village and to colourful local markets.
